Bleached shorts

The picture has all the instructions but I'll type them out if you can't read them good.

Materials:

  • Rubber-bands
  • Old Shorts
  • Container of 1 part bleach + 1 part water
  • Gloves
  • Something to keep them submerged withing the bleach water.

  1. Get a pair of shorts that are old, go to a thrift store and pick up a pair of shorts there, since their old and used and you won't ruin a good pair of shorts. These could be practice "bleach shorts"
  2. Wrap rubber-bands around the sections of the outer and inner edges.
  3. Bunch up the shorts with more rubber-bands, it doesn't matter how you do it and how many rubber bands you use.
  4. You need a container with 1 part bleach & 1 part water.
  5. Submerge the shorts in the bleach water and make sure they don't float, place something on top of the,
  6. Wait about 20 mins or until desire color then rinse off the remaining bleach water (making sure you have gloves on, because the bleach water can still irritate your skin. ) ring them out and then rinse off again.
  7. Next I would wash them with old towels before wearing them, so that if there is any remaining bleach water it does not ruin your good clothes.

There's a purpose for this blog

I mainly created this blog, because my fiance started 3rd shift. So I need to stay busy all the time, before I go insane. I created the DIY clothes blog because I see where all these girls are making old shirts look good and making old shorts good looking(: And since I'm always loosing my next project picture and instructions.. I decided to make this blog, so that now. I can go to one place, find what I'm looking for and do it. Without all the hassle of going to page after page and making things ten times complicated! So here is my blog.

Shirt to Tank-top

This literally takes less than 5 minutes.

Here's my latest shirt remodel (: I'm pretty proud of the results even though I didn't even follow the girls instructions, I just free cut styled the shirt and followed her pictures (most of them) I just did what I wanted. I'm seeing a lot of DIY projects in my future, just so I can stay busy and keep things off of my mind.

I didn't make a before picture :/ Wish I did. Now the instructions for this are very simple.

Materials:

  • Shirt that does not fit (I find that a shirt that is a good fitting shirt, will become too tight. You need one that is already too big so that it will fit right after being cut and then tied in the back. Like so in the picture, it will fit much better)
  • Scissors
  • Ruler (maybe depends if you can cut good lines)
  • Marker/Pen/ Pencil. Which ever.

  1. First find a shirt that doesn't fit, I would suggest finding a shirt that you don't already wear.. an ugly shirt or whatever so that you can practice on it first before you butcher a really good shirt. Then lay the shirt down on the floor as neat as possible, and have all the seams lined up accordingly.
  2. Now, you are going to cut the seam of the collar off, stay very close to the seam. You want to cut it off all the way.
  3. Now you need to cut off 1.5 inch of the collar off. You can merge that with the first step if you want, but I find that it's easier if you do it step by step and not mess up.
  4. Now, from the collar that you just cut.. Measure with a marker very lightly about 2inches from the collar, use the ruler if you want and dot a line that goes to the very end of the seam of your sleeve.
  5. Now fold your shirt in half (hot dog style) so that your sleeves are now even, begin to cut the line that you just dotted. This way you can knock out both sides and you won't have to repeat the same step on each side. Two birds with one stone.
  6. Now that you sleeves are no longer connected to your shirt, take on sleeve and cut the material that is connected to your sleeve off. Stay close to the seam you want to make a strip. You are then going to cut that in half and pull at each end of the strip until it curls up. Do it to both strips.
  7. Take the strips and thread them through the back of your shirt and double knot, one strip should be above the other. Then rotate the knot until it is inside of your shirt. You can use one strip, but two makes the back of your shirt look better. (in my opinion)
I will update this post maybe later today or tomorrow with a step by step picture instruction, if the steps written out do not make sense to you guys that are like me and do better with a graphic instruction. (:

Scarf -Very simple Shirt Revamp

Follow the picture(:

I suggest a shirt that you absolutely despise. I haven't tried using other colors, Just grey. It could work, just experiment on a shirt that is ugly before you cut up a very pretty bright shirt.

DIY Scarf

Here is a scarf that you make using an old or new shirt. I haven't yet made this one yet, but here are the instructions that I have finally found to make such scarf (: Looks simple enough, huh?

  1. Find a bright shirt, like the above picture. Go to Michael's and pick up a craft shirt, or go to the Dollar store. Or simply use one from your closet that you no longer care to wear.
  2. Begin by cutting the shirt into looong strips. Too short and your scarf will look more like a choker. You want to end up with around 9 thicker strips, as the t-shirt will naturally curl into itself after cut. If you shirt doesn't curl up enough to your liking, simply pull each end a little until it's curled up slightly. Not too much curl, you do want it to look thick some.
  3.  Next, decide how much of the scarf you want braided and how much you want loose.
  4. . Start by tying one of the strips in a knot around the other pieces. This will collect all of the pieces together and make it easy to braid.
  5. Begin braiding, including all 9 strips into one.
  6. Once you’ve finished your braid, wrap another piece of the fabric around the others and knot it. Your braid should now be secured at both ends. Decide what length you want your scarf to be and then secure the two ends together either by knotting or using a little hot glue. Make sure not to let the glue show, though! It’ll look sloppy.
I'll post pictures as soon as I make this DIY(: So that you can follow the pictures.
